The Gospel

The Gospel is this:

God, who is eternal and unchanging and who sustains the heavens and the earth and everything in them by the word of his power, created mankind in the beginning with the capacity to choose both good and evil. Initially, the first people, Adam and Eve (from the Hebrew meaning the man and the woman), had fellowship and communion with God. However, they chose to violate the one prohibition that God set for them, which was to not eat of one particular tree. As a result of this transgression, Adam and Eve lost fellowship with God, they were thrown out of the Garden, and they began to suffer the consequences of forsaking God.

As a result of their choice, all of mankind has suffered under the dominion of sin. Ultimately, sin is anything which places itself above the authority of God. In particular, both the actions and the attitudes of murder (hatred), theft (envy), adultery (lust), and idolatry, which is worshiping anything other than God including even yourself, all result in death.

You are a sinner. Examine your life. I am a sinner. I, along with everybody in the world, have worshiped something other than God; I and everyone else have hated God. As a result, you and I both have been placed under the judgement of God. The full wrath of God is poured out on the sinner. God hates both the sin and the sinner.

But, God has made a way to himself. In the past, God had passed over the sins previously committed. Adam and Eve, who were the first to forsake God, suffered death in the form of losing communion with God immediately and in the form of physical death eventually. Each and every sin deserves immediate, physical death, but each sin is a transgression against an infinitely holy, loving, and just God.

Because God had passed over the sins previously committed, in order for him to be just he needed to punish those sins. So he descended bodily into his creation, embodied as a man, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ lived a perfect, sinless life. And he was crucified, killed, slaughtered by God for our sins on the cross at Calvary. He willingly went to the cross to suffer and die for our sins.

As a result of this, the sins of all God’s elect, his children, are atoned for. The only response to this sacrifice is to have faith in Christ’s death and resurrection and to repent from those things for which Christ died. Christ did not die for the sins of the children of God so that they may continue to walk in those things which wrought death. No, we are to repent from the sins, throughout the rest of our lives, until we die or Christ returns.

Take heart. If God has opened your eyes to the depths and depravity of your sin, if God has opened your eyes to your utter disavowal and hatred for his name, if God has led you to forsake your sins and pursue righteousness, then you have been chosen by God. None may come to Christ unless God draws them. But, all who do come to Christ will never be cast out or forgotten. And the only way to come to Christ is through faith in his sacrifice and repentance.

There are two options concerning eternity:  eternity with God in joyful fellowship because of the faith in Christ and repentance because of Christ; or eternity under the judgement and wrath of God because of your refusal to glorify God. Please, I urge you, be reconciled to God and give your life to Christ.

If you have this faith and this repentance, you will be raised again to live with God in the same way that Christ was resurrected from the dead.

If you are not sure if you have this faith or this repentance, go to his word, the Bible, and cry out to him to beg for repentance and faith and joy for his name’s sake.

In order to be strengthened in your faith, you must seek out a community of believers that lives to glorify the name of God, because these believers are now your brothers and sisters. You must also seek to learn more and more about Christ through his word and through prayer. We must ever grow in our hatred for sin and our love for righteousness and for God.

Message me if you would like to talk about this or if you would like me to pray for you or spread your story to other brothers and sisters online. I do encourage you to seek out an actual mature brother or sister in Christ who can encourage you and lead you to further glorify God with your life.

Be blessed.
